Responding to an invitation from MARSO gallery to Desiré Saint Phalle, Jean-Luc Moulène will show around 20 works that bring together some of his most recent protocols. Moulène has found in the mathematical knot theory a forceful tool to experience the matter and complexity, allowing to underline and interpret new figures. In the manner of a scientist, after a constant search, he discovers; he shows things that escape the sight of people who are in a hurry; these little nothings, anonymous and anodynes secrets that constitute reality.

Born in 1955, Jean-Luc Moulène studied Aesthetics and Art Sciences at the Sorbonne in Paris. He has participated in the Sharjah Biennial (2010); the Taipei Biennial (2004); the Venice Biennial (2003); the Sao Paulo Biennial (2002) and Documenta X (1997).

Among the institutions that have made individual exhibitions of his work we can highlight: the Secession, Vienna (2017); Center Georges Pompidou, Paris (2016); Villa Medici, Rome (2015); Kunstverein, Hannover (2015); Extra City Kunsthal, Antwerp (2013); Modern Art Oxford, Oxford (2012); Dia: Beacon, Beacon, New York and Dan Flavin Art Institute, Bridgehampton, New York (2011-2012); Carré d’art-Musée d’art contemporain, Nimes (2009); Culturgest, Lisbon (2007); Jeu de Paume, Paris (2005); Musée du Louvre, Paris (2005); Center d’Art Contemporain de Genève (2003); Center for Contemporary Art, Kitakyushu (1998 & 2004) and ARC / Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (1997).
