Castillo sin puertas: Apuntes legales para entender el tiempo
Opening:

Fundación MARSO presents the first solo show in Mexico of cuban artist Reynier Leyva Novo. "Castillo sin puertas: Apuntes legales para entender el tiempo" is part of the investigation Novo began in Residencia Internacional de Proyectos Siqueiros - La Tallera del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes.
Novo operates like an archeologist that challenges ideologies and symbols of power in order to deconstruct the myths. His multidisciplinary practice implies the extraction of historical data and oficial documents whose contents transform into a formally minimalist and conceptually charged work.
In this show, Novo has generated, in collaboration with a lawyer and a mathematician, a series of works and land in Mexican political and legal reality. Castillo sin puertas... moves in the labyrinths of bureaucracy. Administrative paperwork that is abstract, imposibles, illogical turned into concrete, logic and possible forms. Notes on socia works in process that explode the seeming contradiction to make a coherent body.
Reynier Leyva Novo (La Habana, 1983) lives and works in La Habana. Has shown at important international forums such as Bienal de La Habana, Bienal de Liverpool, as well as group shows and solo exhibitions in Europe, USA and Cuba. His work can be found in the permanent collections of Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, La Habana, Cuba; Bronx Museum of the Arts, Nueva York, USA; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC, USA; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, USA; y el Perez Art Museum (PAMM), Miami, USA, amongst others.
